What goes-on inside messageboards like this one is such a small fraction of muzzleloader shooter representation. (For example) Probably 98% of muzzleloader hunters have no idea that heavy conicals work in fast twist rifles and those T/C QLAs affect performance with old-school conicals. These hunters of today haven't a clue about that.
Why did they choose T/C instead of Knight or Traditions?..... because of that QLA and how it makes it easier to load bullets.
When T/C owners shoot and miss that deer, they don;t blame their inaccuracy on the QLA. They blame it on themselves for a poor aim or either on the bullet or powder they chose. They haven't a clue that they missed that deer because of the QLA and their choice of using a T/C Maxiball conical, which BTW, is hardly ever seen anymore. Everyone seems to use sabots, Powerbelts (inlines) or roundballs in traditional sidelocks.
Old-school conicals are going the way of the dinosaur. No doubt about it and it changes nothing in T/Cs lineup of guns and how they address the QLA at the muzzle. If you call T/C by phone, they will recommend sabots or Powerbelts. They will even prove they are more accurate at the 100 yard mark.
So test the QLA till the next blue moon. The amount of shooters that these QLA threads affect are so few and far between. Like talking to a bus-group of 100 oldtimers at a baseball game where 40,000 are in attendance. Sorta parallels to the approx 100 threads we saw in 2015 on Lehigh bullets here. For a bullet brand that only represents a fraction of 1% of the market.... perhaps as little as 0.05% of muzzleloader sales globally, I am so glad those Sabotloader and Grouse Lehigh promotions have ceased.
There was no doubt in my mind that a bullet push occurred to boost sales.... all driven by people associated by/with/ associated with Lehigh. Grouse not coming back to this board after his timeout recently, is OK with me.
Guess I'm a dinosaur then..I have always preferred conicals to saboted bullets, but have killed deer with them. Like the last sentence too...
