Of course there is. You don't need to touch the elevation to develop a load. Just adjust the windage and shoot for groups from then on. It doesn't matter if they're high or low. Just get the best group. Once you have the load that shoots the best group you can file the front sight for your distance.
You're getting a PRB barrel, so I assume that what you're going to shoot. It's a shame to use anything but black powder in a Hawken. Mandatory if you get the flintlock. So, i'm not understanding all the different loads you want to shoot?
