Yes, pretty much any other coating wears faster and scratches easier. I dont give two hoots about it IN the bore. I just like a matte black finish that lasts a long time and is highly resistant to stains.

No need to oil the outside of the barrel is also a nice plus. Wipe it down with a wet rag, dry and you are done with BlackIce. I believe nitride is the same in this regard.

I have heard Frog Lube will stain nitride though. Not sure.
