The reason for drilling them is that they can function more efficiently... They breath better (for the lack of a better word) reduced the blow back pressure on the nose of the primer.

They just function better do not plug as quick - but the stock one will work just fine if you keep the channel clean.

I modified these CVA plugs and they work great with regular primers - no mags needed.
