The 336 is not made in 44mag. It's a completely different action - the rifle length 1895/336 are different than the pistol carbine action of the 1894.
A hot 300grn loads in 44mag leveraction isn't too dissimilar from a typical 30-06 bolt action in recoil. In 225-240grn loads, it's a little more friendly, but it's still not a "pop gun."
