While I am most definitely a strong advocate for crossbows to be used during archery for a multitude of reasons, this thing is far and away NOT similar in any way whatsoever to archery other than the projectile it fires. Crossbows, while yes they are easy to fire, are a pain in the rear, even more so than a regular bow sometimes, to carry through heavy brush and such. They are also way more difficult to load for a followup shot and to reset in a tree stand than a bow. They also allow those with physical problems to enjoy time in the woods during the more favorable weather conditions of Archery season whereas in the states that only allow x-bow during rifle those physical conditions could very well keep them away from deer hunting because of the cold and snowy months.

This thing, like most other things that Jim Shockey supports, is just too far. It is simply an air gun that fires arrows. Plain and simple. I've seen other designs for air powered arrow launchers and this one is by far interesting and very functional but it is nothing new really. Nor should it in any way be allowed for archery season for the simple reason that is has absolutely NOTHING to do with archery. Limbs and string make up the essence of archery. Not the projectile it fires. Allowing this thing in archery would be the same as allowing someone to use a sling shot during rifle only just because you used a bullet for the projectile. That certainly doesn't make the sling shot a gun does it?
