I cannot even begin to count the number of times I have eaten deer back strap back or tenderloin grilled over a bed of camp fire oak or hicky wood coals. The idea of getting the "runs" ... sure that is possible but the way I see it as long as I have the meat cleaned well and it was not contaminated with feces or urine ..... fresh killed is about as good as it gets.
