AR-10's are pretty hot right now, manufacturers and retailers are choking on over-inventory parts lately since the AR-15 wave fell off, so now they're pushing AR-10's like crack cocaine...

Grab up a used LR-308 for $700, play with it for a while. If you don't like it, resell it for what you have in it. If you DO like it, then you can keep it, or resell it for what you have in it, and buy a new one. If you ALMOST like it, you can resell it and put that $700 towards a custom

With a 700 in .270win, I wouldn't add a bolt gun as a surrogate nicotine patch for your want to buy an AR-10.
