Is it ok to wear a coat or other clothing over a safety harness? Will it impede the harness in any way?

I'm thinking about how it would be difficult to remove layers of clothing during a sit that starts in the cool of the morning and then warms up after the sun comes up. Then, of course, the reverse in the evening.
