A while back I picked up a brand new CVA Hawken .54cal and while it was a good looking rifle, the stocks wood held some really nice looking burl patterns. You know how I am. I stripped it, including the barrel and browned it, added traditional sights, hand rubbed truoil finish which I knocked back with an oiled green
scotch brite pad.
Shes on her way to her new home, but it was a really darn nice rifle after the refinish. I think the browned barrel is what really sets off a traditional sidelock. Along with good sights.
