My recommendation is don't buy a bow based on someone's recommendation. Find a local dealer with a good reputation and shoot as many as you can get your hands on. Most good dealers wont have any problems setting one up for you and letting you fling a few arrows, so you can buy the one that feels right. It doesn't matter what brand - Hoyt, Bear, PSE, Mathews, Elite - you name it - they all have their own quirks, but they all make good bows.
