Maybe they don't advertise it, but most AR manufacturers will stand behind their products. You can slap a fancy guarantee on a big box of dookie, but at the end of the day, its still a big box of dookie.
I do agree, though. .40 is not a hunting cartridge, and .45 would be marginal at best.
I haven't bought any factory ammo in many many years. Been reloading for my firearms for 50+ years now. I MAY buy a box for a certain rifle here and there to fire-form cases or may have to get a box or 2 because brass is hard to find sometimes but that is very few and far between. I just did a Google search on the average price per round of 9mm which came out to 28-38 cents per round. Even reloading you will have a hard time plinking with an AR for that cheap.
As far as standing behind their product, most manufacturers will for the most part but not lifetime they wont. And Hi Points warranty is transferable and unlimited and best of all
no questions asked! I've seen only a couple of poor reviews on their carbines and those seemed to be the kinds of guys with their noses in the air about any firearm that costs less than $1,000. Their pistols on the other hand, well, a fairly expensive paper weight comes to mind. I'm no home defense firearm guru. My home defense consists of 2 very big Rotties and handguns and shotguns in various locations throughout the house. You get by my babies and you are earning everything you get

but my opinion on the Hi Point carbine would be a fine addition for a home defense weapon. Might even go check a couple out in .45acp! But a big game rifle it surely aint!
