On Thursday July 9, the Resilient Federal Forests Act of 2015, HR 2647, was passed by the US House of Representatives in a bi-partisan fashion. Your elected officials listened to Ruffed Grouse Society members, and other conservationists, and approved this ground-breaking legislation.
The Resilient Federal Forests Act includes language that could dramatically enhance habitat conditions for ruffed grouse, American woodcock, golden-winged warblers and other wildlife of young forests on our nation's national forests. In addition, this legislation would aid the U.S. Forest Service in combating the devastating wildfires that annually race across the country without depleting the agency's financial ability to address other pressing conservation issues, such as wildlife habitat management.
Similar legislation has been introduced in the U.S. Senate and, hopefully, will be acted upon later this year. RGS will keep you apprised of the progress of this legislation.
