I can vouch for the exposure leading to immunity. At least from my experience, when I used to work for my fathers lawn care clearing land, would get rashes the first part of the year. After the first 2-3 break outs I could roll around in the stuff and not get a rash again the rest of the year.
Not necessarily ! I know several people that have contacted poison ivy for the first time and had severe reactions. The second contact was much worse and they were warned by a doctor to try and avoid contact as the next contact would be even worse and could lead to a trip to the E R !
