My brother will run and gun...but by running I mean he gets in the truck and drives to another spot. Usually by the 20th of April the hunters are falling off and going crappie fishing so he has the pick of several spots. My brother will start at a spot that we know a bird is hiding in. If the bird doesn't respond well on the roost or on the ground my bro jumps in the truck, goes to another spot and makes some calls. Since we are hunting the bottoms on the backside of clear cut areas he will hammer down pretty hard on a call. If he gets answered 3 times he goes after him.

As for myself I just get a little more patient. Late season means that hens are nesting and that toms are cruising by 9 am. Get in a known area frequented by birds and get comfortable.
