I use a Winchester 94 in 30-30 for sneaking thru the deer woods. It has a Lyman Peep sight on it. It is light to carry and quick to shoulder and sight. A lever gun is also quick with a second shot if need be.
I don't have good binoculars, I use the cheapies. Good binoculars would be an advantage, If I were buying I would look for something versatile and easy to carry.
