That must be a blast fighting one of those Sturgeon! The NYDEC has reintroduced Lake Sturgeon into some of the larger Finger lakes near my home but we are not allowed to target them. If one is caught, they must immediately be unhooked and released without removing them from the water or handling them in any way. I do know of several large specimens that have been caught and released. These fish were once native to Seneca and Cayuga lakes but like so many other things they were extirpated. The bright side is, they're beginning to make a comeback.
