Not nothing wrong with a shot gun with number 4 shot or coyote buster ammo in a populated area.
Even a muzzle loader is acceptable.

I also don't think the 223 is the best coyote round. Many a 22 hornet & jet 22 250, 220 swift, 222 & 222mag 243, 6 mm shooters will say so also.
