I would devise Plan 3.
Seek Bobby Hoyt or Ed Rayle to either convert an inline to 1:66 twist, or build a new barrel fitting to shoot roundballs accurately with a slip-in barrel, at medium-long distances.

Then afterwards, work-out some materials and fabrics that when used as roundball patches, can withstand 120-150 grains of powder without disintegrating.
