Impressed
You guys may have read my other post with my cousin getting a new muzzleloader (flintlock). He got the Lyman Deerstalker and brought it over last night. I got it all cleaned up and ready to sight in today. Not one for liking single triggers based on the previous Deerstalker I had, I was really impressed with the trigger on this one. It broke crisp and clean with what I would estimate a 5-6 lb pull. Not light but no where near as heavy as the one I had. With not much time we went out this morning. With its 1:48" twist I picked a load of 80 gr of Goex FFFg and a 275 gr Maxihunter.
After showing him how to load and prime the pan and using a 6 O'clock hold at the 25 yard target his first shot cut the bottom of the 3" bull dead center left/right.
I moved the target out to 50 yards and on his second shot the height was good but he was way right. He told me he pulled it. Third shot with the same 6 O'clock hold put the Maxihunter dead center in the black. A couple more shots playing around to get him used to it and we took it home and showed him how to clean it with the hot soap and water method.
Now we'll see how he does if he gets a crack at a deer tomorrow.,
