Because of the bear, coyote and wolf population where I live, it you wound one and want the meat you better get on the track and stick to it... day or night. I tracked a bow shot deer one very cold December evening with my friend. When we found her, she'd laid down and it seemed she couldn't get up, but was laying there head up in the air, watching us. Really freaks you out when the deer are so alert. And it made me kind of sad to walk up to her and do what I had to do. But that's part of the hunting too.
