I must blame Semisane for tempting me to do this.

The gun: A blued 45 cal. I normally shoot 180-200 XTPs and SSTs. This gun is glass bed and one of my favorites. I've shot my last two deer with this gun but it's taking the year off as I shoot the 50 this year.

The Bullets: Purchased from Ed on the forum. They are an example of some really nice work. I used a felt wad. The big boys are 465 grains and the smaller ones are 350 grains.



At 50 Yards:

My gun was sighted in for 200 grain SST @ 2" high at 100 yards. I was not on paper at 50 yards with 75 grains of T7 3F ( thank you Semisane for the inspiration and starting load ). After taking it back to 25 and moving the POI up 4" at 25 yards I went back to 50 yards.

Both the 465s and the 350s printed a 3 shot group a little over and inch at 50 yards. I used 75 Grains of 3F T7 for all shots. At 50 I cleaned after the second shot. The crud ring was horrible! I was forced to clean after every shot.

I thought it was interesting how the 465s hit out to the left. I can see a lower impact but don't get horizontal move.




Well, why not 100 yards:

I'm not sure why I did so but I switched sides at 100. Same load for all, 75 T7 3F.

The 350s continued to climb. The 465's fell a few inches. Both had a 3 shot group in the 3" range. I'm thinking a little more powder may be the ticket but It was a fun day at the range.
