I'll stick with my beagles. They don't push the deer to fast, and they are foolproof when it comes to tracking a downed deer. A lot of people in these parts like treeing walker coonhounds.
Pretty doggies but I don't know what they could do that a hound wouldn't do better. I guess it depends on the land where you hunt. Beagles can tunnel through the thick stuff here.
Of course you have to have a beagle that wants to run a deer and not a rabblit.
