Josmund, the wad is intended to serve two purposes; (1) to provide a better gas seal between the bullet and powder charge, and (2) to protect the base of the bullet from flame cutting/damage/melting, which is supposed to improve accuracy and prevent leading of the barrel.

Bronko, I hope to extend the range with these bullets next weekend. I intend to sight in for zero at 100 yards and take it out to 75, 100, 125 and 150 yards, and see how well it matches this ballistics chart below. If I get groups under four inches at 150 yards I'll be looking for a mold also. I also want to try it in the 1:28 twist .50 caliber GM/LRH barrel with Harvester sabots.
