Default Got A Doe This Morning

Hunted five days on Ft. Sill with my sidelock; saw a lot of nice deer and walked for miles and miles. Never got a shot.

Ths morning i hunted a property near some wheatfields. At about 07:25 down the trail comes a nice doe. Distance was about 100 yards.

Gun: TC Encore .50
Scope: 4X32 Zeiss Conquest
Powder: 120 grains of sifted 3F Goex Pinnacle
Bullet: Hornady 300 grain .452 Magnum
Sabot: Crush rib
Primer: Winchester shotgun

At the shot the ground blind was filled with smoke; could not see which way the deer went . Went to the spot where the deer was standing. Saw a big coyote nearby and took a crack at him. Coyote went down, jumped up and went into the tall grass.

Looked for the deer for about 15 minutes. Found her and a big puddle of blood about 100 yards from where she was shot. On entry the bullet hit a rib and left a huge entry hole. The bullet exited taking out two ribs and leaving a 1.5" exit hole. Both lungs were hit and the bullet clipped the heart.

Not sure how tha deer made it 100 yards after being shot. Looked around for about 30 minutes and could not find any blood trail leading from the spot where the deer was shot to her final resting place.

The doe weighed 95 pounds field dressed, big for SW OK. She had not nursed a fawn this year.

Turns out that coyote nearly beat me to my deer, not the first time that has happened. Date on photo is a typo.
