Mike, There is plenty of public land in MD. State parks, state forest's. For the last 25 yrs ,I have not hunted private land, all public. I get an average of 2 deer a year. Now on public land you will have to learn how to hunt them. You will have to scout the land pre season. Locate scrapes, bedding area's. Stand locations you may want to use. The biggest deer iv'e have killed were on public land. Don't just go for the trophy deer, kill doe's, 2-3 year old buck's. Iv'e hunted for 50 yrs, exept time off for the Army. But thank god , I get deer every year. Check the public lands available to you. Good hunting.
