I had a feeling about this year, and thought it might be an early winter. My plan for elk was an OTC bull tag. The closest OTC unit is over a 12,500 ft pass. It closes every winter from snow. An early winter will close in earlier, and i'd have no hunt.

I'm not saying we're going to have an early winter, but it snowed last night in the mountains, and the elk hunt is 6 weeks away.

This is why I grabbed this bear tag. At least i'll have one hunt if the elk hunt doesn't work out.
