The .300 Savage is a really good cartridge that was years ahead of many of its peers in cartridge design. Ballistically it is nearly equal to the newer .308 Winchester and for all intents and purposes it will do anything the .308 will do on medium game! And to top it off there are few thrills like taking a " classic" gun to do the job.

P.S. My Dad' s family had one chambered in a Savage 99 (don' t know which model) that had been in his family for years. When his mother died in 1970 the rifle disappeared and hasn' t been seen since.....a real shame!
