Here is a picture of a barrel that is on a 98 mauser I sporterized for my brother. I put a semi inletted Fajen stock on it and took the barreled action down to bear metal and reblued with Birchwood Casey perma blue. I boiled the barreled action in a tray on the kitchen stove so when I took it out of the water it flashed dry, then I put the blueing on the barrel with a cotton ball, lightly went over it with 0000 steel woll and repeated about 15 or so times. The results were amazing and that was in 1971 and the gun looks as good today as it did when I first did the job.
