The 30-30 designation has nothing to do with it being rated for a 30-30 rifle. It means that when you are at the 4 power setting you can put it on a deer's chest and the reticle will bracket it at 100 yards. If the top and bottom of the chest is outside the lines it is closer than 100 and if it's inside the lines it means the animal is further out than 100. Your big problem may be the eye relief in that the scope is intended for a rifle and not a shotgun. It is a very cheap scope and may not last on any gun that has a lot of recoil if it's used a lot, but on the other hand it may last forever. Once you get it mounted and slide the scope back and forth in the mounts and tighten them, you'll want to have someone measure the distance between your eye and the eyepiece when you mount the gun to your shoulder like you are shooting. If there is not enough space, you have a good chance of scope-eye and if you don't know what that is you'll find out in the first shot or two at the range to sight it in!
