Default RE: A deer can duck an....arrow??!!

Straight, This is a perfect case scenario assuming straight down drop. When a deer "ducks" it is moving (in most cases) somewhat backwards as the powerful hindquarter muscles contract. The neck dips sharply at the sholders, the front legs are thrown out to the side and the torso twists.

I'm sure that someday I'll upgrade my setup, Speed will not be as determining a factor as will smoothness and quitness....

I don't know if I would have admitted to this one or not but a buddy told me today that he miss the same doe 3 times yesterday (the season's end) with his longbow. He said the deer only jumped and the sound of the arrow hitting the ground as if it were a twig falling...

I spent the early part of the season hunting with a longbow, have yet to shoot at a deer with it...when that rut rolls in I take out the compound.
