RE: lost buck found
I guess it all depends on his attitude, not your opinion and desires.
Ask yourself these questions:
1) When he described the deer, rack and arrow was he in any way condescending, annoyed or angry?
2) Did he seemed saddened by the loss of someone not harvesting the deer?
3) As a fellow bowhunter, has he ever lost a deer?
4) Does he think that you killed this big buck with either a poor shot/track job?
5) Is he a jerk, or is he a nice guy?
6) Are you guys friends or just mutual acquaintances?
I guess what I' m poking at here is, you know this guy better than any of us. Is it worth asking him or do you just want to suck it up and forget about the whole affair? If the guy wasn' t a jerk, I would ask to see the rack. If he feels you didn' t fulfill your end of the hunting " deal" (#4 above), then by asking you may worsen any bad feelings that may already exist.
I would let him keep it---personally---I would not feel deserving.
