RE: meat grinder
Over the years, I' ve used everything from the hand cranked kind to the commercial electric grinders. You basically get what you pay for. The cheaper ones are OK for small amounts once or twice a year, but will quickly bind up with the tough fibrous membrance that inevitably gets into the meat and are a hassle to constantly take apart and fix. They also wear out rather quickly. The best ones start at around $600.00 or so and work much better. I got a combination band saw/meat grinder through harbor freight tools for under $300.00 and it works great for me and makes great round steaks (from the hind quarters) in about 5 minutes for both sides!
