I felt the program was a success but mother nature sure was not nice to us and the students.
The ages of students ran between 10 to 15 and the 34 to 65 years young. We had one gentleman who never hunted but always wanted too! So he was paired with a mentor.
The program consisted of Hunter Education training on parts of a firearm to how to use it and how to pattern. Then I presented several different methods of hunting from Run and Gun to Trolling for Turkeys to How to use a blind.
We even had a section on how to call as I had all students mimic the sounds I played.
On Sat and then on Sun half day hunts where conducted. Most all saw or heard birds, some got a shot and did harvest a bird. The kill tag was free! You can't beat that!
It was a very rewarding program for me to be part of.
Some pictures from the event
We set up a blind. the demonstration was how to use the window and how to keep the back black or as dark as possible.
The blind placed out back a few decoys placed and the pallet was the backstop for the splatter sillohettes we used.
