Yeah, I have read countless articles and perused a mindless myriad of material on choosing the "correct" load for my ML, but haven't actually gone out and purchased any powder or pellets yet. Heck, I haven't even mounted the scope on the thing yet either. LOL!
I completely agree with you that 200 yard shots are possible with modern day MLs, but it would be extremely rare that I would decide to take a longer shot than necessary -- guess that is the throwback bowhunter in me. Just because a ML can shoot out to 200 and beyond doesn't mean it has to be done. I, mean, it is still "hunting" right?
I hunt to experience nature and to get up close and personal with the game animal that I am pursuing. Taking long shots does not thrill me in the least. I'd take a 50 or a 75 yarder over a 200 yarder any day of the week, and twice on the last day of the hunt!! Well, hopefully, not "twice". Ha!
