Usually, it's a bang flop. And most people say the same thing about a .243
Don't know where he shot the elk.....I assume behind the front shoulder, but didn't ask.
The deer I've shot with a 30-30 have dropped like a ton of bricks. Of course, I wasn't shooting long range. I've not shot an elk with my
30-30, but have thought about using it. I would not shoot unless I was within 100 yards and had a broadside shot though.
