The Black Hills of South Dakota is where you can go and hunt millions of acres of National Forest with a good Merriams population and very little human pressure because of the vast amount of acerage. I may go out this year since it's been a few years since my last trip there. The license is available online with payment by credit card. I hunt the area between Custer and Mount Rushmore when I go.
