With a 5 gallon bucket, there are 2 types of feeders that you can make. The cheapest would be an "on demand" feeder. All you need for it is the bucket, 2 1/2-3 ft. broom handle and a couple of nails. At one end of the broom handle, put a couple of nails cross ways through the handle to keep it from falling through the bucket hole. Cut a hole in the bottom of the bucket, slightly larger than the broom handle diameter. Stick the broom handle inside the hole, fill with corn and find a spot to hang it about 4-5 feet off the ground. When animals move the stick around some corn will fall out. Two problems with this are: #1, if you put it too low coons will learn to shake the stick and empty it quickly. #2, if any animals want to they can empty it pretty quick. If the deer just hit it and get a few bites, the corn can last a couple of weeks, if they want to though, they can empty it in a day or two. The other option is to put a timer on it and hang it higher so that nothing can hit the timer. Feeding 3-5 seconds, twice a day will get you almost two weeks between fillings. Timers start around $40.00! Good luck!
