That is true, but we tend to hunt deer blinds in UP Michigan. 30 to 40 yrds. is a normal shot. so you look at a compact for that reason. I mostly use a Marlin TK-30 in 30-30win. Its a youth rifle I believe. My Model 700 in 270win is just sometimes too much unless I take a shot across our farm field. I might take a look a different stocks(Remington).
