Default RE: Coon Hunting

man i miss coon hunting....havent done it in about 5 or 6 or 7 years.....it was the love of my life.....nothing like running them hounds......but we moved and cant have an outside dog and having a coon dog inside just dont work.....and we dont have time to run them like we used to......if we didnt run our dogs 4 or 5 nights a week we felt horrible......when we couldnt do it anymore we passed the dogs along......it was a blast...we used to kill 100s a year....man i wish we still had old duke......treeing walker with a full read head(supposed to be the best) we got him free from a guy in ohio i think.....we got there and he was sorry looking....had a pelt in the box with him as a toy....probally the only coon that dog seen.....he turned out to be one of the best dogs around.....best ive ever hunted with......we couldnt enter him in competition though.....he almsot killed a dog one night when my dad was running with his buddys and his dog.....our dog got to the tree first and the other dog came running in and tried treeing the same tree....my dog about killed the other dog....he chased him after attacking him and treed the dog!!! no lie my dad and his friend had to track the dogs blood trail in the snow to find the other dog up a tree......thats how aggressive he was....he would killed in competition.....he was so fast......and built like a linebacker.......all muscle.....wed let him go and he was gone and on a tree in no time......we had quite a few dogs....all treeing walkers.....they were great dogs......
