Need some help here. I was given a Stevens Model 15 a couple of days ago by my 92 year old former Boy Scout Master. It is one of the rifles that we boy used at our scout shooting range back in the late 1950's.

The stock is a glossy "varnish" ... but I am not sure if this is original or a do-over. I plan to return it to original condition as a momento of my Boy Scout days.

Anyone know the original stock finish? I cannot recall what it looked like 50+ years ago and the on-line info is not clear enough for me to make out the finish.
