In my neck of the wood, there are a few black squirrel, which is a color variation of a gray squirrel. Got about 4 black squirrel so far in my two years of hunting squirrel. There is a genetic variation in the gene pool of gray squirrels. I am guessing that there is one black for every 40 grays out there in my area. Some very localized area has 1 black for every 10 grays.
These are very pretty if they are solid black.
