I believe they call it book learning versus real world. There's a place for both (who doesn't own a reloading manual or 2) but there's really no substitute for real world experience. In science, they come up with theories and then go find some evidence in the real world. Ok, I know I'm gonna hear about this from the science majors but oh well.
