If Blackelk is REALLY meaning literally 12" over it's back, then sure, I agree, a foot over it's back isn't a proper hold-over for pretty much ANY round. BUT, I mostly assumed he was pulling 12" out of his hat, and moreso making a point that hold-over isn't the way to make long range shots.

I used plex reticle and non-turret scopes for a long time, then switched up to mil-dot scopes. Sure, I have a scaled reference so it's not pure hold over like the plex was, but it's still hold over.

Prime example: Two seasons ago I held over 30" with my wife's rifle and delivered a double heart and lung shot, plex reticle Nikon 4.5-14x40mm scope. No, it wasn't a super long range shot since it was a slow flying round, but 30" of hold over is a big drop to compensate for with a plex. Not gonna play games to hear someone call BS on me for it.
