Checking the barrel is very easy with a break action as shown in the video. However, other actions are not quite so easy.

In those cases the argument for taping the muzzle is strong. Take the time and use a mirror, flashlight or whatever you prefer to assure the barrel has no obstruction and then tape the muzzle.
