The best .308 hunting round for my specific rifle and situation?
Base Rifle: DPMS LR-308
24" SS Threaded Bull Barrel (1:10 Twist)
Birdsong Black-T/Tan-T Coating (Everything metal is coated)
Weaver Tactical 3-15x50 Scope with Illuminated EMDR Reticle
JARD Single Stage Trigger @ 3.5#
Target shooting range: 100yards - 600yards
Hunting range: 100yards - 300yards (in some areas perhaps up to 600yards)
Hunting weather: Too cold and usually a lot of snow
I know many hunters will say that my rifle is a bit on the heavy side for hunting, but as the song goes, "I work out..." ;-) Anyway, thank you in advance for any input you may offer in helping me select a round that:
1. Wont break the bank
2. Is somewhat easy to obtain
3. Offers good long range shooting options
4. Offers a solid ethical kill for whitetail deer
