I have two of the Traditions Woodsman Hawkens. One has a 1-66 twist the other, a flintlock has a 1-48 twist. I find that they like a stronger load, between 80-90 grains of powder. The flintlock is also an excellent .490 round ball shooter with 85 grains of powder.

My old Traditions Woodsman Hawkens is a percussion cap model with the 1-66 twist. All I shoot out of it is roundball.

On my targets. in the corners are pictures of a turkey and a buck's head. They are not that large, maybe three inches across. If the target is close enough as in this one, I like to shoot for the white head of the turkey. This was with my slow twist woodsman hawkens. With roundballs it is a very good shooter.
