A thought though, my oldest is 2yrs old and me and my father have already started taking him out on a few scouting trips in the spring and shed hunting. Starting early but you will know when he is ready and for what he is ready for. Had my nephews out shooting a .22 at the ages of 5-6 they wanted to try the AK but that was a nogo for being too young to handle the recoil. Now at 13-11 may have to make the trip.
