Default Grunt Calls vs Deer Grunts

Is it just me or do most if not all grunt calls do a poor impersonation of a deer? I have heard bucks grunt on many occasions and to be honest, I have never heard a call that really does a good job duplicating the sound. I learned how to grunt just using my mouth/throat and I feel " my" call is a better duplication of the true thing than the commercial calls I have heard/used. I know everyone has their favorite call, but do you think the calls do a realistic job duplicating an actual buck grunt?

Quick grunt story...

Two weeks ago I was in Nebraska. On the way out driving on the dirt road, I had a deer jump across the road a couple hundred yards up the way. When I got up there, I discovered two doe and an honest 20 inch 8 point. Really nice buck. He was grunting to the does who basically didn' t want anything to do with him. The deer were not nervous about me being in the car and all which was pretty odd I thought. Anyway, I let out a grunt, and the buck grunts back. I grunt again and the buck spins around in my direction and takes 3 or 4 quick steps toward me with his head down and hair raised up on his back. I really didn' t want his girlfriends. I was just glad I was in the car...
