I bought one of the first 835s to be sold up here in my neck of the woods. I' ve used it for everything (including a couple of deer with slugs). I have given this one a lot of punishment, and I find they are pretty tough shotguns. You will hear complaints about the Safety buttons falling off, or that the fore-end is always loose and rattling, but I have never had a miss-fire or a problem getting shells to cycle.
Right now I' ve got a Mossberg Ulti-full choke screwed into the original un-ported barrel, and I shoot Win. 3.5" in 5 shot. I' ve got a decent pattern out to 35 yards, but am considering a Rhino choke/Nitro ammo combination. That, and a new Red-Dot scope of some kind, and I will be set. Oh, and I would invest in the Limbsaver recoil pad if I were you - it makes a big difference when you are shooting patterning holes in paper!
